If you are like most of us you wonder what you can do in the face of this terrible situation.

The first thing is to contribute to the Sea Shepherd society. Read the letter below titled "What whales want you to do" to find out why whales would rather you gave to Sea Shepherd than Greenpeace or other "protest" groups.

Humans,

This is the second letter in my series of letters to Mankind. In this letter I want to describe in more detail what we as a species need you to do and how we need you to do it.

First though I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. Most humans don’t really understand or care that our families, our culture and our history is being murdered. We need your help desperately as without technology (see my first letter – “A letter to Mankind”) we are helpless to defend ourselves. We must depend on your species to defend us. If you fail to help us our civilization will die.

We are not mindless fish, as many humans seem to think. We are thinking feeling beings with intelligence, language, culture and emotions. We can help you fight the killers by suggesting what you might do, but you will have to do it. We cannot. So it is with all hope resting on you that we offer the following suggestions.

First if you decide that you are going to help by donating money please donate it to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. We understand that you are more familiar with organizations such as Greenpeace but we have very specific reasons for our request.

Let me explain by putting it into a situation that you will find easier to understand.

Imagine that you and your family went out for dinner tonight. You picked a special restaurant that had your favorite food and all your family was there, your extended family as well as your close family.

Then as you sat in the restaurant eating a group of criminals burst into the room and began shooting your family members, one by one with horrible explosive harpoons that explode in their bodies and left them writhing on the floor. Then as you watched in horror, your family members are slowly dragged out to the street by a steel cable attached to the harpoon still lodged deep in their body. Once outside they are shocked over and over with electric knives. Imagine watching helplessly as you hear their screams and watch them dyeing slowing in agonizing pain.

And then humans show up to help you.

One group of humans starts shouting and waving banners around the restaurant. They take pictures of your loved one’s suffering but do nothing to stop it.

The other group attacks the attackers and does what they can to disable the attackers equipment.

If your family were in the restaurant, whom would you want to help you? Those that wave banners or those that actively stopped the attackers from attacking you?

The question to us is obvious.

We want humans that will take action to stop the killers. The Sea Shepherd Conversations Society is the only group on the face of this world that has ever taken direct action to stop them from killing us. Because of that we want you to give to them specifically.

There are other things you can do as well. There are still a number of nations that kills us. They are the Danish Faeroe Islands,Japan, Iceland, Norway and the tropical islands of St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

The humans from these areas place no value on our lives, our culture or our families. They kill us without mercy, mothers’ children and fathers.

Of the killers Japan is the worst . They torture us and kill us in ways that are beyond description. We die at their hands in the worst anguish imaginable. For us, like you, to die is horrible, but to die at the hands of the Japanese, that is a fate far worse than even death itself.

Our cousins the dolphins are murdered on the coasts of Japan by the thousands. They are stabbed and have their throats cut and their skin scraped off as they are dragged screaming to the butchers killing areas.

Because our brains are designed to live without a constant supply of oxygen, many of us can live for half an hour to an hour or more without a breath. Cutting our throats does not kill us as it would you. Many of us can live for over an hour after humans think us dead. Our brains still function long past when our hearts pump blood. While our skin is pulled from our bodies and our fins cut off we are aware of what is being done to us. We still feel the pain long after we are unable to move our bodies.

Help us to stop them. Please don’t buy anything from these countries that hunt us. Write letters and use your technology to tell their representatives that you will not visit their countries or spend money there. Let them know that you are aware of what they do to us. Tell them over and over that we are conscious aware beings and though we are different from you we still feel pain and have emotions and are intelligent. Tell them that we feel terror and pain beyond description as our limbs are sliced off our bodies and our throats cut. Tell them that we still live while are bodies are being cut open.

Please tell everyone you know what these humans are doing to us. Tell your friends and family not to buy products like televisions or cars that are made in Japan. Tell them to write letters and send cards and tell their elected representatives what is happening to us.

We have no technology to stop them. Please help us.
